This coffee comes from a farm we visited this year (2016) Finca Las Colinas Coop in West El Salvador, in Tacuba. Las Colinas Coop is a collectively run farm. The 89 members and their families are responsible for all 200 hectares of land cultivated with coffee. Each member takes on a different specialty or responsibility, from field hand to commercial director. After each harvest, profits are split among all 89 members.
The farm has been devoted to growing coffee since the late 1940’s when it was  a large coffee hacienda; many of the 89 members, their fathers and/or grandfathers used to work there as day labourers picking coffee. The land contains natural springs that provides water to thousands of people in the entire municipality of Tacuba.  For this reason, the farming practices of the co-op serves a very critical role in protecting and preserving the area’s important natural resources.

All our coffee is sold as whole beans, which we recommend for optimum flavour and freshness. If you don’t own a grinder you can buy one here, or you can specify that you’d like us to grind it for you in your Basket.
