Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Adado

Bright, big and citrusy / Very aromatic / Notes of bergamot (marmalade), blackcurrant and sugar cane / Very clean and very sweet.

This wonderful coffee comes from the Haileslassie Ambaye mill/washing station located in the south-eastern Ethiopian highlands within the Gedeo Zone south of the capital Addis Ababa. The Gedeo Zone takes into consideration the growing areas of Yirgacheffe and Sidamo coffees.

The Adado Mill buys top class cherry from the surounding 600+ farmers direct and produces both top class natural processed and washed processed coffees.

Ripe cherries are delivered to the mill in Adado where they're graded, sorted, de-pulped and then fermented underwater for between 24 - 48 hours, depending on temperature and humidity.  Parchment is hand sorted in washing channels, and then placed onto raised African drying tables. The drying period lasts for around 14 days, until moisture level reaches 11%. The beans are then transported to Addis in parchment, and then milled prior to export.

All our coffee is sold as whole beans, which we recommend for optimum flavour and freshness. If you don’t own a grinder you can specify that you’d like us to grind it for you in your Basket.
