Rwanda is a landlocked country in Central East Africa, bordered by the Congo to the West, Uganda to the North, Tanzania to the East, and Burundi to the South. It is the fourth smallest on the African mainland after Gambia, Swaziland, and Djibouti .The capital, Kigali, is located near the centre of Rwanda.

The entire country is situated at high altitude, the lowest point is the Rusizi River at 950 MASL. Being situated only a few degrees south of the equator, the high altitude helps create a perfect coffee growing environment, with all the coffee grown between 1500-1700m the coffee ripens slowly developing intense flavour later in the season.

High altitude washing stations create long fermentation times with a positive influence on the cup profile. The only African country to have hosted a cup of excellence competition, Rwanda continues to focus on quality.

This combination of careful picking, high altitude growing and processing and quality focus produces excellent coffee.

Flavour profiles of fresh apple blossom, and fruity red berries are typical.
